TREVELEN FARM

Trevelen Farm wines home vineyard was established in 1993 with the planting of the first small section of vines. In the time that has elapsed since, Trevelen Farm has become a truly Great Southern label. Using vineyards established throughout the Great Southern to augment the produce of the home vineyard.

The Trevelen Farm vineyard began as part of a 3160 acre farming operation and subsequently has developed into a successful wine label. With the broad acre part of the operation being taken over by their son Ben this has allowed John and Katie to focus on the development of Trevelen Farm.

Located in the Great Southern Wine Region of Western Australia (see map / location) Trevelen Farm experiences warm to hot summers and cool to cold winters. Summer temperatures are tempered by the reliable cooling sea breeze "The Albany Doctor". This climate, combined with well drained soils, makes ideal growing conditions for Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot vines. Trevelen also sources Semillon, Shiraz and Merlot grapes from an established vineyard in the Frankland River Sub-region.

Trevelen Farm winemaker James Kellie creates the award winning wines. James Kellie, formerly of Howard Park Denmark, has built in 2004 a ‘state of the art’ 300 tonne winery at Harewood Estate on Scotsdale Road, Denmark.

Since their first vintage all Trevelen Farm vintages and varieties have received some kind of award for excellence. Please see our wines page where these are put alongside the individual wine in question, or view our complete list of awards.
